I love sushi. Love it. So, understandably, when it come to my favourite food, I'm a bit picky. I also tend to stay away from chains. However, I'd heard quite a bit about Sticks'n'Sushi, but had never gone to the Wimbledon, Covent Garden, or 10 Copenhagen branches (where the chain originates). But with a new restaurant opening in Greenwich, it was a timely opportunity to check out what all the hype is about.
These Danes are stealthishly good at making Japanese dishes. Fusing sushi with yakitori, you can order all the maki, nigiri and sashimi your heart may desire, followed by charcoal-grilled meat and fish, skewered on sticks. While most shops and restaurants on King William Walk and Nelson Road in Greenwich are relatively slim due to their courtyards, the designers built out the back of the venue, resulting in an S-shaped, airy 90-seater. We came as a relatively picky duo - one not so keen on fish, the other vegetarian, and yet we found more than enough food to make for a really yummy night out. The dessert in particular was a big surprise - often a (literal) afterthought, it's worth saving some room for these delicious morsels. Don't take my word for it? Have a look for yourselves.
