ROUND THREE: GELUPO
Crema ioi, Ricotta, coffee and honey; £4 each
RICOTTA, COFFEE AND HONEY
I can really taste the honey in this, it’s so sweet. It’s like that’s squeezable honey. I’d say this is for kids. If I didn’t know it had coffee in it, I wouldn’t be able to taste it. The aftertaste is very cheesy.
It tastes a bit cheesy, because of the ricotta. And also a bit grainy, from the coffee. It’s dries your mouth a little bit, and leaves an aftertaste of cheese. It’s nice, but not what I expected. You don’t taste the coffee very much, the honey a bit more. It’s mainly the ricotta. It’s a very unusual ice cream. A bit like sweetened soft cheese. It’s almost savoury. It’s a bit like sweet and salty popcorn.
This is like a Portuguese custard tart, with some fresh lemon added to it. It’s got a lot of flavour, it’s very vanilla-zesty, and the vanilla pod is very rich. The texture is very nice, it’s very creamy.
This is very, very creamy, and very thick. It’s a bit like a cheesecake, with some lemon zest. It tastes a bit like custard, too. Like the kind you get inside a doughnut. You can definitely taste the egg yolk. This is for when you’re low, it’s a bit woe-is-me, eating it in bed. It’s a Bridget Jones ice cream.
